Hot Fudge Sundae Birthday Cake

 Hot Fudge Sundae Cake:


Ingredients:

Yellow cake mix

Colored Sprinkles (jimmies)

Hot fudge/Ganache

Cherries

Buttercream:

1 stick butter

1-2 tsp vanilla

2-3 cups powdered sugar

1-2 tsp milk



Method: 

Preheat 350. So, follow you cake box instructions.  Yada, Yada, Yada.  Make certain to leave your butter out at room temp for your buttercream, as well as a small glass of milk.  I have recently learned this, from making now 3 failed batches of buttercream: IF THE MILK IS TOO COLD IT SEPERATES FROM THE BUTTER AND IS A DISASTERRRR. 
Festoon cake in cheery, cherry, happy clown fashion.  So, I wanted this to be a "hot fudge sundae" cake and in so wanting that look I though to use hot fudge.  Duh.  Well, that was an incredible mistake.  The hot fudge was an ooey, gooey, helluva mess.  The next time I make this, if i choose to use this theme for babies birthday, I would make a milk chocolate ganache.  It would set better, drip down the sides in the stylish way you would want, and over all have a better taste than hot fudge from a jar.  Now, dont get me wrong, hot fudge from a jar is fuckin delicious but an adornment for a cake it is not.
